CH2M HILL to lead LCRA reservoir project

The Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) has selected CH2M HILL (Denver, CO) to provide phase 1 engineering services for the Lower Basin Reservoir Project near Lane City, Texas, a 40,000 acre-foot off-channel reservoir covering more than 1,000 acres. The $206 million project is an outgrowth of water resources planning and study work that CH2M HILL has been conducting for LCRA for many years, resulting in a Water Supply Resource Plan that has identified several potential strategies for meeting regional water demands through 2100. The project will involve the design of a 40-foot earthen berm to contain the reservoir, a pump station design and intake rehabilitation and upgrades, and an assessment and rehabilitation of a low-head dam on the river just downstream. CH2M HILL will deliver the work under the construction-at-risk model.
