Parsons-led JV wins DC tunnel job

The Impregilo-Healy-Parsons joint venture led by Parsons Corp. (Pasadena, CA) has received a $254 million contract from DC Water to design and build the second portion of a major tunnel system to handle combined sewer overflows (CSOs) into the District of Columbia’s Anacostia River. The contract is the second largest to be awarded to date as part of the district’s $2.6 billion program, called the Clean Rivers Project, to reduce CSOs into the Anacostia and Potomac rivers and Rock Creek. Construction of the Anacostia River Tunnel will start at the northern and proceed toward the south, with connection to the Blue Plains Tunnel expected in 2017.
