Blue Sphere to build WTE plants in NC, RI
Blue Sphere Corp. (Yehuda, Israel) announced that it has signed agreements to build a 5.2 megawatt (MW) waste-to-energy (WTE) plant in North Carolina and a 3.2 MW WTE plant in Rhode Island. The company, which did not specify the cities where the plants are to be developed, said that it expects to generate revenue totaling $150 million over the next 15 years from the projects, which are under agreement to sell their output to two utilities that the company also did not name. Blue Sphere has also formed a joint venture with Germany’s Biogas Nord AG, a WTE engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) company, to jointly develop these two projects and another 50 MW of WTE projects in the United States over the next few years.
