Veolia Water, CONSOL Energy to address mine wastewater treatment

Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies (Pittsburgh, PA) and Pittsburgh-based CONSOL Energy Inc. have entered into a partnership to design and build a state-of-the-art zero liquid waste discharge system for treating wastewater generated by mining operations. The system will be located near Mannington, West Virginia, and will treat mining wastewater from CONSOL’s Blacksville #2, Loveridge, and Robinson Run mines. “Veolia is the perfect partner with which to collaborate,” said Katharine Fredriksen, CONSOL’s senior vice president for environmental strategy and regulatory affairs. “They bring design and operational experience with over 75 zero liquid discharge plants around the world.”
