Energy Recovery to supply PX devices for Spain desal plant

Energy Recovery, Inc. (San Leandro, CA) has received an order from Degrémont (Paris, France) for installation of its PX Pressure Exchanger energy recovery devices at the Marina Baja-Mutxamel seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) desalination plant near Alicante, Spain. The Marina Baja-Mutxamel plant, currently under construction, will produce approximately 50,000 cubic meters (more than 13 million gallons) of fresh water per day. Energy Recovery is supplying PX-260 units, claiming that the devices will save an estimated 1,761 kilowatts of energy and offset approximately 9,000 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions per year. The Marina Baja-Mutxamel plant is the third SWRO “mega-plant” in Spain within the past year to choose the PX devices, according to Energy Recovery.
