Black & Veatch Wins Contract to Upgrade Two Wastewater Treatment Plants in UK

US based engineering and construction company Black & Veatch has been awarded a £56m contract for upgrading wastewater treatment facilities at Chadderton, and Royton in Greater Manchester, UK. The project, which is likely to extend over three years, is aimed at improving river water quality in the River Irk and its tributaries. Black and Veatch will be responsible for design, procurement, construction, commissioning and operation of the upgraded wastewater treatment facilities. Awarded by United Utilities Water, the contract will involve decommissioning of waste water treatment processes at Royton and construction of extra storage tanks to hold increased quantity of storm flows at both the sites.
