Con Edison buys 140 MW of solar projects

Con Edison Development, a subsidiary of northeastern utility Consolidated Edison, Inc. (Valhalla, NY), has added to its renewable energy portfolio through the acquisition of six shovel-ready solar PV projects in California from a joint venture between SolarReserve, LLC (Santa Monica, CA) and GCL Solar Energy, Inc. (San Francisco, CA). The projects, located in Tulare, Kings, and Fresno counties, will have a combined electricity generating capacity of 140 MW and will sell their output to Southern California Edison (SCE) and Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) under long-term PPAs. The projects range in size from 20 to 25 MW, are fully permitted, and have all interconnection agreements in place, according to Con Edison, which now owns and operates 550 MW of renewable energy assets in 11 states.
