CalAm Water plans $126 million capex

 California American Water (Sacramento, CA) announced that it plans to invest $126 million through 2017 to replace and improve water infrastructure in various municipalities within its service territory. The planned improvements, which were recently approved by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), include $4.5 million within the Sacramento District to enlarge critical piping infrastructure, $4.06 million in Monterey to replace 20,000 feet of aging water mains, $3.89 million to combine domestic water and irrigation systems in Los Angeles, and $2.19 million to refurbish the Potrero water storage reservoir in the Ventura District. CalAm Water has also authorized an expenditure of more than $5.9 million to continue a variety of programs designed to help Californians conserve water during the current period of extreme drought. The company said that it will issue notifications to its customers over the next few weeks describing how the new capital investment will affect their rates.
