EDF Renewables to operate wind plant for D.E. Shaw
Having acquired the 300 MW Balko Wind project in Oklahoma in late 2014, D.E. Shaw Renewable Investments (DESRI), an affiliate of global investment and technology development firm D.E. Shaw Group (New York, NY), has recently signed an asset administration agreement with EDF Renewable Services (San Diego, CA) under which EDF will provide project management, oversight, and administrative services over the lifetime of the project. Under the contract, EDF will also provide balance-of-plant services for the wind turbine generators, providing remote services from the company’s operations control center in San Diego. General Electric is providing 162 units of its 1.85-87 turbines for installation at the facility, which is located in Oklahoma’s Beaver County. Mortenson Construction (Minneapolis, MN) is serving as the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor for the project.
