WCA Waste picks up assets, sheds others

Solid waste management company WCA Waste Corp. (Houston, TX) announced that it has acquired waste collection and disposal assets in certain Midwest and Gulf Coast markets and divested its waste-by-rail operations in Ohio and Massachusetts. WCA Waste purchased the collection operations of Royal Disposal And Caney Creek Disposal in the Houston area, the Manchester Transfer construction and demolition (C&D) waste transfer station in east Kansas City, Missouri-based collection companies Lloyds Loads, Fort Scott Sanitation, and Behnen Enterprises, C&S Sanitation in Little Rock, Arkansas, and certain collection and recycling routs from Buzzard Waste and Abitibi in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. In addition to making the recent asset moves, WCA Waste said that it has also expanded its investment in vehicles powered by compressed natural gas (CNG). In the first quarter of 2015, WCA added 35 CNG-fueled front-load trucks in Houston and began operation of a CNG fueling station in west Houston.
