Covanta wins WTE plant job in Ireland
Covanta Holding Corp. (Morristown, NJ) has reached an agreement with the City Council of Dublin, Ireland, under which Covanta will build, own, and operate a 58 megawatt WTE plant in Dublin. Covanta said in a release on September 19 that it has closed on the financing for the facility and plans to begin construction of the project immediately. The facility will process 600,000 metric tons of waste per year and will provide electricity for about 80,000 homes. It has also been designed with the technology and infrastructure to provide sufficient heat to meet the needs of more than 50,000 homes if a district heating system is implemented in the future.
