MWH to expand Cary/Apex water treatment plant

MWH Global (Broomfield, CO) has received a $45.8 million contract from the municipality of Cary, North Carolina, to upgrade and expand the Cary/Apex Water Treatment Facility. To meet the needs of the area’s growing population, MWH Global will be increasing the plant’s pumping capacity from 40 million gallons per day (mgd) to 56 mgd. The project also encompasses the construction of additional treatment units for sediment removal, filtration, and ozonization, as well as upgrades to the chemical feed systems and the laboratory and administration buildings. Construction is scheduled for completion in May 2016. The Cary/Apex Water Treatment Facility serves the towns of Cary and Apex and is located six miles from Jordan Lake, part of the Cape Fear River basin.
