Suez Environnement wins major water contracts in India

Suez Environnement (Paris, France) has received three contracts, valued at a combined total of €61 million (about $84 million U.S.), to undertake major water projects in three cities in India. Under one of the contracts, a five-year deal valued at €31 million, Suez will implement upgrades for a water distribution network serving 12.5 million people in the city of Mumbai. Under a second contract, valued at €19 million, Pune Municipal Corp. has retained Suez subsidiary Degrémont to build and operate a drinking water treatment plant serving 2.5 million residents of Pune. Degrémont has also received a contract from the Water Supply & Sewage Board of the city of Bangalore to design and operate two wastewater treatment plants that together will treat 5,000 cubic meters of water per day for the community of Chikkabanavara on the northwest outskirts of Bangalore.
