Bluesphere to build waste-to-energy plant in RI

Israeli waste-to-energy technology developer Bluesphere Corp. has announced a plan to build a biogas-fired power plant in Johnston, Rhode Island, and has reached an agreement with Organic Waste Management, LLC (North Andover, MA) to supply the fuel feedstocks for the facility. Organic Waste Management will deliver 100 to 200 tons of organic waste per day to the plant, which will generate about 3.2 megawatts (MW) of electric power. Construction of the facility will begin later this year. Bluesphere disclosed that it is discussing other business opportunities with Organic Waste Management, including the development of anaerobic digester facilities in Massachusetts, where a ban on the disposal of organic wastes is scheduled to take effect in October.
