Black & Veatch to lead sewage incinerator upgrade

Global infrastructure consulting, engineering, and construction firm Black & Veatch (Overland Park, KS) has received a contract from the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District (MSD) to take the lead role in implementing a $35 million upgrade of MSD’s sewage system incinerators. Under the program, Black & Veatch will work with MSD to install advanced wet scrubbers at the Bissell Point and Lemay sewage treatment plants in order to meet new maximum achievable control technology (MACT) standards, with which the plants must be in compliance by March 21, 2016. Black & Veatch is in the process of completing similar work in the cities of Detroit and Indianapolis, and it is providing design, permitting, and construction management services in connection with the building of a new incinerator the Little Blue Valley Sewer District in eastern Jackson County, Mississippi
