RPS acquires Texas oil engineering/geosciences firm

RPS Group plc (Abingdon, U.K.) has acquired Knowledge Reservoir (KR) Group Inc. (Houston, TX), an oil engineering and geosciences consulting company, for approximately $20 million. KR, which generated revenue totaling $25.7 million during 2012, operates primarily in the United States but has undertaken projects elsewhere in world and has offices in London, Oman, and Kuala Lumpur. The acquisition is expected to be complementary to the group’s environmental consulting business, according RPS Chief Executive Alan Hearne. “Many of our energy clients are dealing with complex environmental problems,” Hearne recently told environmental market research and publishing firm Environment Analyst (London, U.K.). “The more work RPS does for them on their core geosciences and reservoir engineering activities, the more exposure we get to their environmental activities, and the more we are able to help them there too.”
