Dow Water to build $1 billion plant in Azerbaijan

Dow Water & Process Solutions (Edina, MN) has received a contract from Azersu, the national water authority for Azerbaijan, to build a $1 billion water treatment plant serving the city of Baku. The plant will initially have the capacity to produce up to 520,000 cubic meters of water per day, but that capacity could be increased by 20% if officials deem it to be required. Dow Water is providing its ultra-filtration technology, which uses a double-walled, hollow-fiber polyvinylidene difluoride membrane to remove contaminants from the water. As part of the project, Dow Water is also planning to install 257 kilometers of water lines. According company, when completed, the Baku plant will be the largest water treatment facility in the world.
