Saudi Arabia to spend $426 million on water projects

 Reflecting the ongoing growth of the water infrastructure market in the Middle East, the government of Saudi Arabia has announced plans to invest the equivalent of $426 million U.S. in the development of new water projects in the city of Riyadh. The National Water Company (NWC) will support and implement the projects, the start of which will be officially inaugurated on April 6, the government said. According to the plan, NWC will drill 43 wells, construct 27 desalination plants, and install tanks and pumps at different locations around Riyadh. The plan is expected to add approximately 200,000 cubic meters of water per day to Riyadh’s supply.
