Cardno expands in South America

Cardno Ltd. (Brisbane, Australia) has strengthened its position in the South American environmental and infrastructure engineering market through the acquisition of Caminosca S.A. (Quito, Ecuador), a 400-person consulting and engineering firm serving the hydropower, mining, oil and gas, transportation, urban development, and water, sewer, and stormwater markets. Cardno said that Caminosca will add approximately $28 million U.S. in annual revenue and about $3.5 million in earnings before interest and taxes. Noting that the addition of Caminosca brings to about 600 people Cardno’s employee count in South America, Managing Director Andrew Buckley commented, “South America plays an important role in Cardno’s diversification strategy, and there are many exciting opportunities in the region which is forecast to deliver strong economic growth.”
