Veolia Water to build, operate New Delhi treatment plant
Veolia Water (Paris, France) has received a contract from the city of New Delhi, India, to build a new wastewater treatment plant serving the city and to operate the facility for 11 years following the completion of construction in 2013. Veolia Water said that it will deploy technology to recover energy from the biogas generated by the plant’s sludge treatment process, and the sludge will be recovered and processed into compost for regional markets. The 13-year contract has a value of about €40 million (approximately $52.2 million U.S.).
