Black & Veatch wins major air pollution EPC contract

Black & Veatch (Overland Park, KS) has received an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract from Wisconsin Power and Light Co. (WPL) to implement air pollution control retrofits at WPL’s Columbia Energy Center, an electric power generating facility in Pardeeville, Wisconsin. Under the $627 million contract, Black & Veatch will design and construct carbon injection systems to reduce mercury emissions, a dry flue gas desulfurization system to reduce sulfur dioxide emissions, and a pulse-jet fabric filter system to reduce particulate emissions. Black & Veatch estimates the project will support more than 550 jobs during peak construction periods.
