Covanta, Steinert US to partner in metals recovery

   Waste-to-energy company Covanta Energy Corp. (Morristown, NJ) and metal separation technology developer Steinert US, Inc. (Walton, KY) have formed a strategic alliance in the area of in non-ferrous metals recovery. Under the alliance, Steinert will provide equipment, parts, applications engineering, planning support, and maintenance services for metals recovery activities at Covanta’s 41 waste-to-energy plants throughout North America. At these plants, Covanta recycled 400,000 tons of ferrous metals in 2011 but only 15,000 tons of non-ferrous metals, a number that Covanta is seeking to increase through the partnership with Steinert.
