EPCOR finalizes purchase of American States Water assets in Arizona

EPCOR Utilities Inc. (Edmonton, Alberta) has completed its purchase of all of the common shares of Chaparral City Water Co. from American States Water Co. (San Dimas, CA) for $34.6 million, including the assumption of approximately $5.6 million in long-term debt. Chaparral is a public water utility serving more than 13,000 customers in the town of Fountain Hills, Arizona, and a portion of the city of Scottsdale, Arizona. It operates a 15 million gallon per day (mgd) water treatment plant in Fountain Hills.
