SLR Consulting acquires South African environmental consulting firm

SLR Consulting (Vancouver, British Columbia) announced that it has acquired Metago, a South Africa-based environmental consulting firm serving the mining industry in sub-Saharan Africa and Australia. Founded in 1994, Metago employs 63 people at offices in Johannesburg, Pretoria, and Swakopmund in Africa and Perth in Australia. The firm provides environmental impact assessment, mine design, and water and waste treatment services to gold, platinum, coal, chrome, iron ore, and uranium mining operations. The deal was SLR’s third international acquisition in 13 months, following mergers with Australian environmental consultancy Heggies Pty Ltd. and Alaskan firm Hoefler Consulting Group in 2010.
