EBJ Business Achiever of the Week: EcoAnalysts, Inc.

Hats off this week to EcoAnalysts, Inc. (Moscow, ID), an aquatic monitoring and ecological consulting company and winner of a 2010 silver medal in the small-firm category (less than $20 million in annual sales) for increasing revenue 45% and dramatically improving business performance in 2010. Following the economic crunch in late 2009, EcoAnalysts implemented innovative cost-cutting measures that resulted in a reduction in fixed overhead costs by 32%. It also enjoyed an increased proposal win rate, from 16% in 2009 to 52% in 2010, achieved 70% capture of total dollars chased (sole source and RFP combined), saw an increase in net profit margin from 7.9% to 16%, increased total revenue by more than 45% to $3.65 million; increased staff by 35% from 48 to 65 employees, and enjoyed a 74% increase in total dollars contracted from $2.7 million in 2009 to $4.7 million in 2010. Also in 2010, EcoAnalysts won its largest contract to date—a five-year blanket purchase agreement valued at up to $5 million to provide taxonomy support for EPA’s Office of Water. In addition, the company grew its Canadian revenue by 154%.
