Babcock Power unit to install mercury control technology in NE

Babcock Power Environmental Inc. (Worcester, MA), a subsidiary of Babcock Power Inc. (Danvers, MA), disclosed that it has received a contract to supply Activated Lignite HOK technology to control mercury emissions from a large coal-fired power plant in the Northeast. Babcock Power Environmental describes the Activated Lignite HOK technology as a carbon-based product combined with associated technology designed for mercury emissions control in power plants, as well as gas-cleaning processes in waste-to-energy plants, hazardous waste disposal facilities, and other industrial facilities. According to the company, the technology has been used globally in more than 400 waste management facilities for flue gas cleaning and was tested full scale in the United States on a coal-fired power plant before its recent deployment.
