Republic Services, RecycleBank to collaborate in curbside recycling

Republic Services Inc. (Phoenix, AZ) and RecycleBank (New York, NY) have formed a partnership to deploy the RecycleBank incentive-based recycling program to 1 million households within Republic’s U.S. service territory. Under the RecycleBank program, participating households receive “points,” redeemable in the form of discounts on the purchase of goods provided by participating merchants, based on the weight of the materials they recycle. Republic said that the new initiative, an expansion of an existing collaboration between the two companies, represents the largest commitment to incentive-based recycling programs in North American history. “We expect that this [initiative] will encourage more and more people to recycle,” said Gary Sova, executive vice president, sales and marketing, for Republic Services. “With more than 2,000 local and national relevant brands and reward partners participating, there is literally an option for everyone, and we are excited about this mutually beneficial partnership.”
