Results of EBJ’s 2026 AI survey are summarized, and executive interviews profile company initiatives ranging from enterprise-wide AI platforms to workflow-specific applications that have moved beyond pilot stages and are already delivering measurable gains in productivity, efficiency and profitability. Survey data show that AI usage increased considerably from 2025 to 2026, although consistent and deeply embedded use remains lower than in many other professional services industries. Barriers to adoption — including data privacy, cybersecurity, quality control, accuracy of outputs and the defensibility of client deliverables — have slowed initiatives at some firms, while accelerating the development of governance programs, secure data environments and formal AI adoption strategies at others. Regardless of progress or concerns, executives almost uniformly agree that how services are performed, priced and delivered is undergoing a significant transformation as AI tools become more integrated into project workflows and IT infrastructure.
