Description
Climate Change Business Journal Volume XIX, Numbers 7-8-9: Q3 2026 Adaptation & Resilience
CCBJ estimated the global climate change industry at $3.59 trillion in 2024, up 14% from 2023. Adaptation & Resilience accounted for $34.6 billion, or 1% of total global climate-industry revenues, compared with hundreds of billions of dollars each in renewable power, efficiency, green buildings and more than $1.6 trillion in transportation as the largest segment (as quantified in the Q2 2026 edition of CCBJ). Nevertheless, the A&R segment grew 18% in 2024, faster than the overall global climate industry in 2024 and considerably faster than all the GHG mitigation related categories. . Adaptation & Resilience is no longer primarily a market for vulnerability studies and climate plans, although still the vast majority of projects are in this category as a growing proportion of activity and revenue generation is associated with designing and physically delivering on designing and building projects. CCBJ’s market assessments include segmented detail and time series growth in three categories: the global and U.S. climate change industry; the adaptation & resilience segment; and climate change industry consulting & engineering that includes mitigation.
