EFCG announces collaboration to transform institutional knowledge into capital assets

The Environmental Financial Consulting Group LLC (EFCG, Boston, Mass.) announced a pilot collaboration with MSA Professional Services Inc. (Baraboo, Wis.) to develop IMERITUS, a technology-enabled service to help organizations capture and preserve the expertise of their most experienced professionals. When senior professionals in the architecture, engineering, consulting, environmental, and infrastructure sectors retire or move on, a huge amount of accumulated knowledge, experience, and relationships can be lost. “Firms have long recognized that their people are their greatest asset, but too often that value is informal, undocumented, and difficult to scale,” noted Marcus Quigley, partner and technology and innovation practice lead at EFCG. “IMERITUS is about helping organizations transform the wisdom of their most experienced professionals into a durable, accessible resource that continues to create value for the firm, its people, and its clients.”

Stantec reported organic growth in each of its regional operating units, with notable organic growth achieved in Water (14.3%) and Energy & Resources (8.6%). Contract backlog achieved a 13.2% year-over-year increase. “Stantec’s first quarter results reflect sustained global demand for our services and solid operational performance as we continue to drive strong margins and bottom-line results,” said Gord Johnston, president and CEO. “We continue to see strong organic growth in our contract backlog which reached a record $9 billion, providing strong visibility into future growth across the markets we serve. We expect momentum to build through the year as larger projects ramp up, supporting an acceleration of our organic growth.”

Missouri appoints Burns & McDonnell to advanced nuclear energy task force

Scott Strawn, senior vice president and general manager of the Power Group at Burns & McDonnell (Kansas City, Mo.), has been appointed to the newly formed Missouri Advanced Nuclear Energy Task Force. Led by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, the task force brings together 23 leaders from utilities, academia, industry and the Missouri General Assembly to guide the state’s strategic approach to nuclear energy development. “Burns & McDonnell has been designing and engineering energy infrastructure for over 125 years, including significant work in nuclear, fossil and renewable generation,” Strawn said. “Missouri needs voices at the table who understand what it actually takes to site, permit, finance and construct next-generation nuclear power facilities.” The task force will evaluate traditional nuclear reactors, small modular reactors, and advanced microreactors.

AECOM, Binnies and Ramboll appointed to Phase 2 of Singapore’s IWMF

A joint venture between AECOM, Binnies and Ramboll has been appointed by Singapore’s National Environment Agency (NEA) to deliver multidisciplinary consultancy services for Phase 2 of the country’s Integrated Waste Management Facility (IWMF)—building on the joint venture’s role as Owner’s Engineer for Phase 1. The advanced waste disposal facility will be integral to NEA’s long-term plans to meet Singapore’s solid waste management needs. Phase 2 will be designed to process up to 2,900 tons of waste per day, converting waste into energy while also supporting resource recovery and exploring future carbon capture integration. IWMF’s co-location with the Tuas Water Reclamation Plant is in line with Singapore’s integrated approach to waste and water management and makes efficient use of space in the land-scarce country.

Jacobs to provide environmental baseline for UK nuclear site

Jacobs (Dallas) has been selected by Great British Energy – Nuclear to provide environmental services for the Oldbury site in South Gloucestershire, supporting the potential development of new nuclear generation in the United Kingdom. Jacobs will develop environmental baseline data across terrestrial and marine environments, along with environmental assessments, Habitats Regulations Assessment and associated activities related to potential planning, design and permitting decisions. Europe’s offshore wind sector sees turbine prices jump 40-45%

Europe’s offshore wind expansion is facing structural supply constraints, according to a post by Rystad Energy, an energy intelligence company. After GE Vernova paused new offshore wind orders following technical and operational setbacks, Siemens Gamesa and Vestas now account for virtually all turbines available to European developers. Rystad Energy’s analysis shows a sharp increase in per-megawatt (MW) costs, with turbine selling prices rising by between 40% and 45% since 2020, outpacing manufacturing cost increases of 20% to 25% over the same period. The supply constraint is most pronounced in nacelles and blades. “Europe’s offshore ambitions are real, and the pipeline reflects genuine political commitment. But the market has moved into structurally tight territory… That combination gives original equipment manufacturers (OEM) real pricing power and the ability to be selective about which projects get built. If Europe doesn’t meaningfully expand Western manufacturing capacity or rethink how supply constraints are addressed in its auction frameworks, it won’t deliver its post-2030 targets,” said Senior Analyst Sander Baksjoberget.
