ALL4 acquires Tora Consulting
ALL4 LLC (Kimberton, Pa.) has acquired Tora Consulting LLC (Columbia, S.C.), expanding ALL4’s national presence, in addition to enhancing its strategic consulting portfolio, particularly in air quality, permitting and compliance. Founded in 2018 and with 15 environmental professionals across nine states, Tora offers technical expertise in air dispersion modeling, air quality permitting and compliance, environmental management systems, multimedia permitting, stormwater and wastewater, sustainability, and waste, tanks, chemical management, and regulatory strategy. Tora also provides strategic business insights to mitigate risk, streamline operations, and enhance regulatory flexibility. ALL4 offers strategic EHS consulting services to heavily regulated industries and has offices and remote experts in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Spain, Chile, and Brazil. ALL4 is a portfolio company of Levine Leichtman Capital Partners.
Integral Consulting expands ecological consulting practice and California presence
Integral Consulting Inc. (Boulder, Colo.), an environmental science and engineering consulting firm, has acquired the ecological consulting firm H. T. Harvey & Associates (Los Gatos, Calif.). The deal advances Integral’s long-term strategy to expand its ecological consulting and regulatory compliance capabilities while strengthening its presence in one of the nation’s largest environmental services markets. Founded in 1970, H. T. Harvey is recognized for work on environmentally sensitive projects throughout California and Hawaii. The firm serves public- and private-sector clients, ranging from transportation and water resources to renewable energy, private land development, and public land use and stewardship. “This exciting partnership will strengthen our ability to deliver integrated, end-to-end solutions that combine technical depth, coordination, and regulatory insight—helping clients move projects forward with confidence,” said Ryan Brain, CEO of Integral Consulting.
Stantec supports two thirds of ReNew Canada’s top infrastructure projects
Stantec (Edmonton, Canada) announced that it is involved in 62 projects featured in ReNew Canada’s 2026 Top100 Projects Report. The annual ranking of Canada’s largest public sector infrastructure projects reveals that the Top100 portfolio totals C$343 billion, a C$43 billion year?over?year increase, underscoring the pace of public infrastructure investment nationwide. Projects highlighted in the report include the Bruce Power large?scale nuclear refurbishment program and the North End Sewage Treatment Plant Biological Nutrient Removal Upgrade in Winnipeg.
Pinyon Environmental acquires Confluence Consulting
Pinyon Environmental Inc. (Lakewood, Colo.) announced the acquisition of Confluence Consulting (Bozeman, Montana), a science-based water resources consulting firm specializing in process-based stream engineering and wetland restoration. The partnership adds new technical expertise in stream and wetland restoration and broadens Pinyon’s resources in the Western United States. According to Pinyon, the transaction represents an employee-owned, practitioner-led partnership focused on technical integrity, strong client relationships, and long-term stewardship. Pinyon has provided environmental consulting services since 1993 and today employs nearly 100 environmental professionals.
APEM establishes North American presence with CSA Ocean Sciences
APEM Group (Stockport, UK) announced that CSA Ocean Sciences (Stuart, Fla.), an environmental consultancy supporting energy transition and coastal infrastructure projects worldwide, has joined the Group. In addition to having a significant U.S. based footprint, CSA Ocean Sciences brings 115 new colleagues to the marine science capabilities of the Group while adding new marine operations services to its global offering. “As an existing partner we know well, bringing the capabilities of the Ocean Sciences team together with the 1,500 technical experts in APEM Group will create a powerhouse in the global environmental consulting sector,” said Leah McGimpsey, CEO of APEM Group. In February, APEM, a global environmental consultancy, officially joined Applus+ (Madrid, Spain), a global testing, inspection and certification firm, and marked the launch of a new Environmental Services Division, also led by McGimpsey. The new division will incorporate Applus+ global renewable technical advisory teams. Applus+ announced a definitive agreement to acquire APEM Group in September 2025 in a deal reported at around £335 million; APEM generated more than £95 million in revenue in the 12 months to June 2025.
ICF awarded $21M to provide environmental reviews for California transit hub
ICF (Weston, Va.) has been awarded a $21-million contract to lead environmental reviews for the Diridon Station Redevelopment Project in San Jose, Calif. The contract has a term of three years with up to two additional option years. ICF will deliver environmental services, including project management, technical studies, data modeling and analysis, environmental reviews, and community and stakeholder engagement. The Diridon Station, a key local transit hub, will be expanded and redesigned to address Northern California’s future transit needs.
MacKay Sposito acquires 2IM Group in line with ‘intentional’ growth strategy
MacKay Sposito (Vancouver, Wash.) announced the acquisition of 2IM Group (Chicago, Ill.), a multidisciplinary engineering and environmental services firm recognized for program management, environmental services, and infrastructure support. The acquisition expands MacKay Sposito’s geographic reach and builds long-term value for clients, employees, and communities. “This acquisition represents a significant and intentional step in our growth strategy,” said Derrick Smith, CEO of MacKay Sposito. Founded in 2005, 2IM Group has a team of 70 professionals, bringing MacKay Sposito to approximately 350 employees and offices spanning the Pacific Northwest, Southwest, and Midwest regions.
Ramboll invents “universal shock absorber” for power grid stability
Engineers at Ramboll (Arlington, Va.) announced a “breakthrough technology” that eliminates a primary cause of global power grid instability: too many different power sources added to an aging energy infrastructure. The patent-pending Universal Damping STATCOM acts as a “universal shock absorber” for the grid, making it easier and less risky for operators to add renewable energy sources. The technology is installed at critical nodes in an existing power system and detects and neutralizes oscillations in system voltage by absorbing energy from the oscillations and converting it to useable power. The cost for grid operators to implement the new technology is estimated to be a modest increase from a current STATCOM. According to Ramboll, coupled with energy storage, the technology promises to revolutionize the way power grids are stabilized and encourage adoption of renewable energy sources. Ramboll is in talks with potential partners to bring the technology to market.
Weston re-establishes NYC footprint
Weston Solutions Inc. (West Chester, Pa.), a 100% employee-owned environmental and infrastructure services firm, has opened a New York City office, marking its return to the local market. The new office will provide a local partner for industrial hygiene and building sciences, indoor air quality and mold assessment, and asbestos and hazardous materials consulting. Clients will also have access to Weston’s full breadth of services across EH&S; site investigation and remediation; and infrastructure improvement and construction. “New York is a uniquely dynamic market and being physically present matters,” said Jon Brownstein, SVP chief transformation officer. “Re-establishing our NYC footprint strengthens our ability to serve clients with speed, proximity, and local insight.”
Sumitomo Electric launches industrial wastewater reduction technology
Sumitomo Electric Industries (Osaka, Japan) announced the launch of a compact membrane treatment system that it says can reduce industrial waste disposal volume by up to 90% for wastewater and waste liquids containing oil. The system incorporates Sumitomo’s proprietary polytetrafluoroethylene-based Poreflon membrane. Through precision filtration, Poreflon handles wastewater and waste liquids containing oil while achieving both high concentration and reuse of water and liquids. Its compact design reduces installation and power costs and facilitates operation across multiple sites. Sumitomo reported a 90% reduction for waterjet cutting wastewater and an 86% reduction for coolant. The system been adopted by Shintora Holdings for treating wastewater generated during waterjet cutting of thick composite materials.
Orange County installs NanoStack membranes after successful pilot
WaterSurplus (Loves Park, Ill.) announced the successful completion of a multi-year pilot test of its patented NanoStack coated membranes at the Orange County Water District’s (OCWD) Groundwater Replenishment System. Following the pilot results, OCWD will move forward with installing 1,050 NanoStack-coated membranes, representing a full reverse osmosis train capable of treating approximately 5 million gallons of water per day for indirect potable reuse at one of the largest advanced water purification facilities in the world. Pilot data demonstrated that NanoStack significantly improves fouling resistance, reducing clean-in-place requirements by more than half and lowering RO energy consumption by more than 15%. The efficiencies enable an estimated payback period of less than two years, according to WaterSurplus.
Diverting wet food waste into sewage system could reduce costs and emissions
A research team at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology has developed an innovative urban food waste management framework by analyzing food waste data from 29 large cities worldwide, including Hong Kong, Beijing, and New York. The study, summarized and reviewed on Phys.org, shows that in cities with higher food waste moisture loads, grinding food waste and diverting it into the sewage system could be more effective than relying solely on landfilling. This approach could reduce overall greenhouse gas emissions by about 47% and lower total waste-management costs by about 11%, researchers estimate. Findings were published in the journal Nature Cities.
